The Databac Group, specialist provider of identification solutions, has appointed Charles Van Asma as general manager, to supervise and manage the Group's operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Reporting to managing director Charles Balcomb, Mr Van Asma will initially focus on increasing the Group's share of the growing UK market for identification products. The appointment will enable Mr Balcomb to take on a more strategic role in expanding the business into new areas and new territories, as well as forging alliances with key industry partners.
Mr Van Asma comes to Databac with over 22 years of experience in the security industry, most recently with smart card specialist ACI Worldwide. He has held senior positions at other leading companies such as Eltron-Zebra, NBS Technologies and De-La-Rue.
He said: "Databac is a serious ID card manufacturer which enjoys a niche position in the market, offering a breadth of identification cards and products unrivalled in the industry. As general manager, I will manage the company, motivate the staff and boost European sales. My immediate priorities are to increase consumable and system sales in EMEA."
Mr Balcomb said: "We are very excited about this appointment. Databac has grown steadily for over 30 years and it is now ready to branch out and widen its global reach. With Charles Van Asma on board, Databac now boasts some of the most experienced staff in the industry and we are geared for expansion."
