The Databac Group, specialist provider of identification solutions, is proud to announce that it has commenced the supply of warrant cards and civilian passes to the Metropolitan Police Force, as well as a fully-automated, highly-secure, networked pass issuing system. Commissioner Sir John Stevens will be presented with the first new-style warrant card at Scotland Yard today.
John Clarke, head of the personnel security group, Metropolitan Police, said: "Our new system offers unparalleled functionality in issuing the new cards and passes, which in turn boast the very latest in security features."
The pass issuing system comprises a number of networked badge printing stations running on a client/server platform, fully integrated with the Metropolitan Police's vetting system which authenticates personnel and contractor data. The software has been written specifically for the application and uses advanced encryption algorithms for high-level network security.
The cards, which replace the previous laminated badges, are manufactured using Databac's polyester substrates, which extend the cards' life and protect them against wear and tear. Databac has pre-printed these with a variety of visible and covert security features, including a high-resolution branded hologram. The cards also feature Wiegand Wire technology for use in the Met's access control system.
Databac managing director Charles Balcomb said: "The Metropolitan Police Force stipulated the highest-specification software, with cards that featured a unique combination of tamper-evident devices. We are proud to have co-operated with the Force to accomplish one of the most advanced pass issuing stations currently in use."
Official use of the new-style warrant cards starts today.
