TSSI appoints Databac as official distributor of Verid+™ biometric products

18 September 2002

The Databac Group, specialist provider of identification solutions, has added the Verid+™ family of fingerprint verification units to its product range, following a distribution agreement with TSSI. The agreement will allow Databac to offer a simple-to-use, yet highly-effective biometric enhancement to new or existing card-based systems. Databac will market Verid+™ to its client base and network of resellers and distributors worldwide.

Verid+™ is a family of fingerprint verification products which prevents the fraudulent use of cards in a variety of applications. Verid+™ improves the security of access control systems, prevents stolen hours in time & attendance and provides positive identification by matching people to their cards. Verid+™ readers are self-contained, wall-mounted units, which can be used standalone or connected directly to access control and other systems.

Databac manufactures a range of cards which can be used with Verid+™ readers to provide one-to-one verification. With Databac's contactless cards, the fingerprint template can also be encoded into the chip itself for portable verification.

Robin Horne, international sales manager at TSSI, said: "Databac is already licensed to manufacture cards using TSSI's Watermark Magnetics® technology and the Verid+™ distribution agreement further extends our relationship. Databac will bring the product range to a wider global audience, while enriching its own offering with a product which adds real value to its card-based identification solutions."

Three options are available: Verid+, a fingerprint verification unit which recognises all common PIN devices (swipe card readers, keypads or proximity readers); Verid+pin, a fingerprint verification system equipped with an integral keypad; and Verid+prox, a fingerprint verification system fitted with an integral HID proximity reader. Each of the units is designed for easy integration, generally requiring no changes to the system software.

Verid+™ verification units can operate in conjunction with magnetic stripe, barcode, Watermark and proximity readers, including contact/contactless LEGIC and contactless Mifare readers. They are also compatible with Databac's Dataimage biometric photo ID system.

Databac managing director Charles Balcomb said: "We are pleased to strengthen our existing relationship with TSSI. Demand is growing, particularly in Europe, for biometric products which bolster security and Verid+™ gives us an outstanding solution which seamlessly integrates with our existing product range."
