Card security devices and equipment |

Cards can be rendered more durable and secure using either direct card printers or dedicated equipment. With card printers, special card printer ribbons will apply protective overlaminates or security devices directly to the card. Dedicated machines apply holograms and overlaminate films separate from the card printing process.
THERMAL TRANSFER OVERLAMINATE RIBBONS
Thermal transfer overlaminate ribbons add a clear varnish onto the card after printing. These are thin (around 0.25mil) medium-security, medium-durability overlaminates, available clear or with a custom hologram. This technique is ideal for producing tamper-resistant cards with a moderate life span.
PET OVERLAMINATE PATCHES
PET overlaminate patches protect printed cards from abrasion and fading, increasing their lifespan to 50,000 swipes in a reader. A 0.6 or 1.0 mil polyester patch is applied over a printed card by a printer lamination station or dedicated machine. Databac supplies its own range, as well as Fargo PolyGuard™, Eltron TrueSecure and Magicard Ultrashield laminates. A range of tamper-evident, authentication security devices can be incorporated into overlaminates to increase their security. These include 2D/3D holograms, Gold Flash, a pattern which flashes gold when held up to the light, and Advantage, an optical variable device which changes from green to orange when tilted against the light. All can be custom designed. Incorporating UV transferable and soluble inks further enhances security.
CUSTOM HOT-STAMP HOLOGRAMS

Databac's 3Digital holograms add an added layer of security to ID cards or sensitive documents. These state-of-the-art devices can be created to custom requirements and can encompass company logos, enforcing the brand while being impossible to copy. The integration of multiple holographic techniques for complex designs combine covert and overt features, while PMS colour-matching ensures compliance with corporate identity. An optional transparent background keeps the underlying information visible. |

DESKTOP HOLOGRAM HOTFOIL STAMPING AND EMBOSSING UNIT
The Desktop Hologram Applicator provides point-of-issue holographic security to a wide variety of documents, such as corporate cheques, event and sports tickets, gift vouchers, ID passes, passports, warrants and more. It can run both specific image and wallpaper holograms and can also take engraved dies to personalise a foiled image with corporate initials or logos. It will foil in any position on an A4 sheet and, with optional feeder attachments, can foil on plastic cards, membership, credit, ID and thin telephone cards. The machine incorporates a coded access system combined with dual-key operation, to provide a totally secure system. The secure housing restricts access to the foil to authorised key holders.
The image area is up to 25mm x 25mm in any position on an A4 sheet. The unit also keeps a secure audit trail of impressions, using a non-resettable meter. It has a manual single sheet feeder, easily fits onto the desktop and weighs 34kg.

DATABAC FUSIONATOR
The Databac Fusionator is a robust, reliable, high-quality solution for laminating CR-80 format size ID cards and multi-layered imaging receptor media. Clear or holographic laminates can be applied to a variety of card and tag substrates, for longer-lasting, tamper-evident cards. Holographic laminates can be custom designed to conform to the corporate image, making for attractive, brand-enhanced cards. This industrial machine boasts a small footprint and can be used on the desktop. Its cavity-style design ensures exact positioning of card layers and overlaminates to reduce wastage. The Fusionator is easy to use and takes a range of card thicknesses and media types.

DATABAC CARD OVERLAMINATOR
The Card Overlaminator is an automatic lamination station which applies a tough, 1 mil (0.254mm) thick polyester overlaminate film onto CR-80 cards, to extend their life to a minimum of 40,000 swipes. When used in conjunction with most standard card printers, it provides an ideal standalone solution. An automatic feed is available which incorporates a 100-card hopper (standard CR-80 gauge). Alternatively, cards can be fed into the unit manually. The laminate size is approximately 82.5 x 51mm and can be applied to a variety of card thickness from 30 mil to 60 mil. The lamination cycle is around 35 seconds per card. When laminated at the correct temperature, the overlaminate is virtually impossible to remove without destruction of the card. Overlaminate films can be clear or incorporate anti-copy and tamper-evident security seals, such as Gold Flash, Advantage, Ultraviolet and 2D and 3D holograms.
Note: to ensure correct adhesion, the clear overlay of the card printer ribbon (the 'O' of the YMCKO) must be omitted.
