How many cards does a ribbon print?
It depends on the printer. Zebra (Eltron) P310 series printers are able to take 200 or 350 image colour ribbons (YMCKO) and the P420 printers are able to take 170 or 250 image colour ribbons (YMCKOK). Monochrome ribbons are available in both 1000 and 1500 image sizes. The Fargo 81733 ribbons last up to 250 prints.
How often does a card printer need cleaning and how?
The printer ideally should be cleaned with every ribbon change. This should be done with a cleaning kit available from Databac. It is possible to clean the card cleaner in a Fargo printer by carefully removing the cleaning roller (identifiable by a sticker on top) and using sellotape (or equivalent) to remove the dust. Clean no other part with sellotape. An Zebra (Eltron) printer will require a new cleaning roller, also available from Databac.
How fast is a card printed?
Again, this depends on the printer. For example, an Zebra (Eltron) P310 can print a single-sided colour card in about 25 seconds. An Zebra (Eltron) P420 is capable of printing in full colour on one side of a card, with black text on the back, in about 36 seconds.
What resolution can card printers produce?
300dpi (dots per inch) is the standard resolution across all ranges with the exception of Fargo HDP printers.
